Terms of Service

Effective Date: October 15, 2026

The terms for your account, recording sessions, memberships, creative work, and purchases through Session Route. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User,” “you,” or “your”) and Session Route, LLC (“Session Route,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your access to and use of the website located at sessionroute.com, our mobile applications, and related services, features, and content (collectively, the “Platform”).

The iOS application is also licensed under the Apple Standard End User License Agreement. That agreement governs the application license; these Terms govern Session Route services and transactions. Apple is not the provider of studio sessions, engineering services, or producer licenses offered by users. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or remedies that applicable law does not allow you to waive.

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Platform.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the “Effective Date” above and, where appropriate, notifying you by email. Your continued use of the Platform after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age and capable of forming a binding legal agreement to use the Platform. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.

If you are using the Platform on behalf of a business, organization, or other entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms, and “you” refers to both you individually and the entity.

3. Account Registration

To access certain features of the Platform, you must create an account by providing accurate, current, and complete information. You agree to update your information as necessary to keep it accurate.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at support@sessionroute.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

Use an email address you control and complete required confirmation or security checks. Keep workspace roles, invitations, and shared links limited to people you intend to authorize. Adding someone to a studio or project can give them access to its information and actions according to that role. A public profile name does not establish ownership of another person’s identity, business, or music.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that we reasonably believe violates these Terms, contains false information, or has been compromised.

4. Platform Description & User Roles

Session Route connects recording studios, audio engineers, artists, and producers. The Platform supports studio discovery, booking, services, payments, private music libraries, file delivery, messages, collaboration, and scheduling.

4.1 Studio Owners

Studio owners may list their recording studios, set pricing and availability, manage rooms and engineers, process bookings, receive payments via Stripe Connect, and sync sessions with Google Calendar. Studio owners are responsible for the accuracy of their listings, including pricing, availability, equipment, and studio descriptions.

4.2 Artists

Artists may browse and book recording sessions, upload preparation materials, receive session files, manage their song library, and build a public profile. Artists are responsible for attending booked sessions on time and complying with studio policies.

4.3 Engineers

Engineers may create profiles, set their availability, receive session assignments from studios, manage sessions, and build their professional reputation. Engineers are responsible for maintaining accurate availability and fulfilling assigned sessions.

4.4 Producers & Beat Licenses

Producers may publish storefronts and offer beats under producer-authored license terms. The license shown at purchase determines permitted use, exclusivity, formats, duration, credits, and any usage limits. A preview, download, or purchase does not grant rights beyond that license or clear third-party samples. Producers must hold the rights and permissions needed to offer their work, and buyers must follow the purchased license. Session Route records and delivers the transaction; it does not grant ownership of the underlying composition or recording. Purchase options can differ between the website and native apps.

4.5 Marketplace Role

Session Route provides the platform and its own paid Membership. Studios, engineers, and producers are responsible for the services, listings, and licenses they offer. We do not own or operate listed studios or employ listed engineers. The service agreement for a session or order is between the customer and the relevant provider; these Terms also govern use of our booking, payment, and dispute-support features.

5. Bookings & Sessions

5.1 Booking Confirmation

A booking is confirmed when its initial payment is successfully collected and, for a request booking, the studio accepts the request. A card authorization alone does not confirm a session. Once confirmed, both the artist and studio are expected to honor the booking.

5.2 Cancellation

Cancellation policies are set by individual studios and displayed at the time of booking. Artists should review the applicable cancellation policy before confirming a session. If a studio cancels a confirmed booking, the artist is entitled to a full refund of the studio price and Session Route service fee paid for that booking.

5.3 No-Shows

If an artist fails to attend a confirmed session without prior cancellation, the studio may retain the deposit or charge the full session rate in accordance with their posted policies. Repeated no-shows may result in account suspension.

5.4 Session Conduct

All users are expected to behave professionally and respectfully during sessions. Studios reserve the right to end sessions early and remove any individual who engages in disruptive, threatening, or illegal behavior. Any resulting charge or refund is subject to the disclosed booking terms and applicable law.

6. Payments, Fees & Payouts

6.1 Payment Processing

Stripe processes supported studio bookings, separately ordered services, web memberships, and other eligible marketplace payments. Apple processes Session Route Membership purchases made through iOS in-app purchase. The checkout identifies the price, currency, applicable fees and taxes, and payment provider before you commit. Session Route does not store full card numbers or card security codes. Payment providers apply their own terms to the services they provide; receiving payouts through Stripe also requires its Connected Account Agreement.

You authorize the charges and any later balance collection described in the checkout and booking terms. A saved payment method does not authorize unrelated charges. A manually recorded, invoiced, or cash-settled session does not by itself mean Session Route collected a payment or owes a payout. Off-platform payments and compensation remain the responsibility of the parties who arranged them.

6.2 Deposits & Authorization

Unless a studio requires full payment, the initial charge is generally 50% of the studio price plus the entire Session Route service fee. The remaining studio-price balance is due after the session under the booking terms. For a booking that requires studio approval, a card authorization may be placed before acceptance; an uncaptured authorization is not a completed charge.

6.3 Service Fee

Session Route charges artists a service fee of 5% of the studio booking price, or 3% when the artist has an active qualifying Membership at checkout. The exact fee is disclosed in the checkout total and collected in full with the initial confirmed payment, whether the artist pays a deposit or the full studio price. The studio pays the applicable Stripe payment-processing fees, deducted from its share. The engineer receives the full agreed allocation for an online-paid session.

6.4 Studio Payouts

For new online-paid bookings, Session Route collects the artist’s payment. After the session is completed and payment is collected, Session Route transfers the engineer’s agreed allocation in full after required session delivery, and the remaining studio share, less actual Stripe processing fees, to their connected Stripe accounts. Each recipient manages bank payouts; availability and timing are subject to Stripe’s settlement and payout rules. Cash remainders and invoiced sessions require the studio to settle engineer compensation separately. Existing bookings retain their original payment arrangement.

Stripe debits Session Route for refunds and payment disputes on these platform-collected bookings. Session Route may, after operator review, reverse all or part of the studio’s related transfers to recover the refunded or disputed amount, up to the studio amount transferred. Earned engineer payments are protected from these recoveries. After a documented operator review, Session Route may recover an unearned, duplicate, or incorrect engineer payment, or an amount the engineer has agreed to return, up to the related engineer amount transferred. Session Route covers any unrecovered shortfall; the studio’s card is not charged for automatic engineer compensation.

6.5 Refunds

If an artist cancels a confirmed booking or does not attend, any studio-price refund follows the studio’s disclosed policy; the Session Route service fee is not refunded, except where required by law or expressly approved by Session Route. If the studio or provider cancels or cannot deliver the booked session, the studio price paid and the Session Route service fee are refunded in full. If a booking fails before confirmation, a duplicate charge occurs, or a Session Route payment or booking error causes a charge, any related authorization is released or the amount charged, including the service fee, is refunded. For an approved partial refund due to a studio service shortfall, the corresponding proportion of the service fee is refunded. Stripe and card issuers determine when a refund appears on the artist’s statement; these terms do not limit applicable cardholder dispute rights.

6.6 Taxes

Providers are responsible for their business, income, and tax-reporting obligations. Taxes may be calculated, collected, or remitted by the applicable seller, Session Route, Apple, or a payment provider where required. Review the checkout and receipt for the transaction’s tax treatment. Session Route does not provide tax advice.

7. Subscriptions

7.1 Studio Access

Session Route is free for studios. Studio Membership plans are recurring products that a studio may create for its clients; they are not a subscription a studio buys from Session Route.

7.2 Session Route Membership

A free account does not require a subscription. Optional Session Route Membership provides the benefits shown on the Membership screen, such as additional Library storage, lower eligible Session Route fees, and a longer recovery period for deleted Library files. Monthly and annual options may be offered. Your checkout displays the price, billing period, and current benefits. Membership does not include studio time, separately ordered engineering services, beat licenses, or a provider’s own membership unless expressly stated.

7.3 Apple In-App Purchases

For purchases through Apple, payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple manages billing, renewal, cancellation, and refund requests under its purchase terms. You can manage or cancel it in your Apple Account subscription settings or through the app’s subscription-management control. See Apple’s cancellation instructions and refund request instructions.

Use Restore Purchases with the Apple Account used for the purchase and the Session Route account to which it belongs. Restoration verifies existing entitlements; it does not create a second subscription or transfer a purchase to an unrelated account. Uninstalling the app or deleting your Session Route account does not itself cancel an Apple subscription. Cancel with Apple before deleting your account if you want renewal to stop.

7.4 Web Billing, Cancellation & Access

Membership purchased on the website is billed through Stripe and can be managed through the billing controls for that purchase. It renews at the disclosed monthly or annual price until cancelled. Cancel before the next renewal to stop future charges. Access normally continues through the paid period, subject to refunds, chargebacks, and these Terms. We do not ordinarily prorate unused time, except where required by law or an expressly stated refund policy. Contact support about a billing error. Manage each purchase with its original billing provider; benefits do not add together when duplicate subscriptions exist.

When Membership ends, free-account limits apply. If stored content exceeds the current allowance, additional uploads may be restricted until you reduce usage or restore eligibility. Losing Membership does not itself grant Session Route ownership of your files or mean they are immediately deleted. Deleted-file recovery is limited to the applicable recovery window and does not replace an independent backup.

7.5 Price Changes

We reserve the right to modify subscription pricing. Existing subscribers will be notified at least thirty (30) days before any price increase takes effect. Apple purchases also follow Apple’s notice and consent requirements. Any consent required by applicable law or the billing provider will be obtained before the changed price applies. You may cancel before renewal if you do not wish to continue.

7.6 Provider Memberships

When an artist buys a Studio, Engineer, or Producer Membership plan, the artist pays the provider’s monthly plan price plus a separate Session Route checkout fee. The fee is 5% of the plan price, or 3% when the artist has an active Session Route Membership at checkout or at the time a renewal invoice is created. The plan price, checkout fee, and any applicable tax are shown before payment or on the renewal invoice. A change in the artist’s Session Route Membership status can change the checkout fee on a future renewal. Payment processing fees are deducted from the provider’s proceeds.

These provider plans are separate from Session Route Membership. The provider is responsible for its promised services and benefits. Review the plan’s included services, renewal, cancellation, and refund terms before purchasing. Availability and supported purchase channels depend on the type of plan and device.

8. User Content

8.1 Ownership

You retain all ownership rights to content you upload, submit, or transmit through the Platform, including but not limited to session recordings, beats, reference tracks, profile information, reviews, and photos (“User Content”).

8.2 License Grant

By uploading User Content, you grant Session Route a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, transmit, display, and distribute your User Content solely as necessary to operate and provide the Platform, including processing formats, playback, authorized sharing, and delivery through service providers. It does not give us the right to sell your unreleased music or use it to train a general-purpose AI model. This operational license ends when content is removed, except for recipient copies or continuing licenses you authorized, limited backup retention, and records we must retain for legal, security, or transaction obligations described in the Privacy Policy.

8.3 Content Restrictions

You agree not to upload, post, or transmit any User Content that:

  • Infringes any third party’s intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights
  • Is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, threatening, or harassing
  • Contains viruses, malware, or other harmful code
  • Misrepresents your identity or affiliation
  • Constitutes spam, unsolicited advertising, or promotional material

We reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms without notice.

8.4 Session Files & Recordings

Session recordings and files uploaded by studios or engineers for delivery to artists are the intellectual property of the respective rights holders as determined by the agreement between the artist and studio. Session Route merely facilitates the storage and delivery of these files and makes no claim of ownership.

Agree on ownership, credits, releases, publishing splits, and permitted uses with your collaborators. A credit, session payment, file upload, or delivery in Session Route is not itself a copyright transfer, publishing split, or permission to use third-party samples. You must have permission for all material and personal information you upload or share.

8.5 Sharing, Recovery & Backups

Your sharing choices determine who can access content. A recipient may retain a downloaded copy after a link is revoked or an account is deleted. Keep independent backups of important masters, sessions, stems, and licenses. Storage and recovery features have plan limits and retention periods; they are not a guarantee that every version or deleted file can be restored. Account deletion and permanent deletion can remove recovery options.

8.6 Reports & Rights Concerns

Use the available reporting and blocking controls for abusive users or content. Contact support@sessionroute.com for assistance, or legal@sessionroute.com about ownership or infringement concerns. Identify the affected content and your relationship to the rights holder so we can investigate. We may restrict access, remove content, or suspend accounts for infringement or other violations, including repeated abuse.

9. Intellectual Property

The Platform, including its design, logos, trademarks, text, graphics, software, and all other content created by Session Route (collectively, “Our Content”), is owned by or licensed to Session Route and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works based on Our Content without our prior written consent. “Session Route” and associated logos are trademarks of Session Route, LLC. Unauthorized use is strictly prohibited.

10. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation
  • Create fake accounts, impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Platform, servers, or networks connected to the Platform
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users’ accounts or any secured portions of the Platform
  • Use automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access or collect data from the Platform without our written consent
  • Circumvent or manipulate the booking, payment, or review systems
  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent reviews
  • Harass, abuse, threaten, or discriminate against any user
  • Use the Platform to solicit transactions outside the Platform to avoid fees
  • Upload content containing malware, viruses, or any harmful code
  • Violate the intellectual property rights of Session Route or any third party

Violation of any of the above may result in immediate account suspension or termination, at our sole discretion.

11. Reviews & Ratings

Users may leave reviews and ratings for studios and engineers following completed sessions. Reviews must be honest, accurate, and based on genuine firsthand experience. Session Route reserves the right to remove reviews that are fraudulent, defamatory, contain prohibited content, or violate these Terms.

Studios and engineers may not offer compensation or incentives in exchange for positive reviews, nor may they threaten or coerce users into removing negative reviews.

12. Third-Party Services & Integrations

The Platform uses providers for payments, Apple purchases and notifications, authentication, hosting, storage, diagnostics, maps, and optional calendar or music-credit integrations. Their services may have separate terms and privacy policies. The Privacy Policy describes these uses and your choices. Optional permissions, such as notifications, contacts, location, or calendar access, can be declined or revoked, although related features may then be unavailable.

Session Route is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of any third-party service. We do not endorse and are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of third-party services accessed through the Platform.

13. Identity Verification

A studio may require identity verification for a booking. Where offered through Session Route, Stripe’s hosted verification flow may ask for a government ID and a matching selfie, under its verification notices. Stripe may also require business, bank, identity, or tax information for payout accounts. Provide accurate information and review the requirement before booking or connecting an account.

We retain verification references and status, not copies of ID images or verification selfies in our account database. Authorized staff may access verification records through Stripe. The studio can see whether its requirement is met. Verification does not guarantee a person’s safety or conduct. A studio may separately check identification on arrival; its disclosed requirements and applicable law govern that process. See the Privacy Policy for verification data and privacy choices.

14. Disclaimers

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

SESSION ROUTE DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR RELIABILITY OF ANY CONTENT ON THE PLATFORM, INCLUDING STUDIO LISTINGS, REVIEWS, OR USER PROFILES.

SESSION ROUTE DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE QUALITY, SAFETY, OR LEGALITY OF ANY STUDIO, SESSION, OR SERVICE OFFERED THROUGH THE PLATFORM. USERS INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER AT THEIR OWN RISK.

15. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL SESSION ROUTE, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PLATFORM.

IN NO EVENT SHALL SESSION ROUTE’S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU HAVE PAID TO SESSION ROUTE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00 USD).

THESE LIMITATIONS APPLY REGARDLESS OF THE LEGAL THEORY ON WHICH THE CLAIM IS BASED, WHETHER OR NOT SESSION ROUTE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, AND EVEN IF A REMEDY FAILS OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Session Route, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your use of or access to the Platform
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third party’s rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights
  • Any User Content you submit through the Platform
  • Any dispute between you and another user of the Platform

17. Dispute Resolution

17.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing any formal claim, you agree to contact us at support@sessionroute.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days.

17.2 Binding Arbitration

If informal resolution fails, any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under the rules applicable to the dispute, including the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules for consumer disputes and the Commercial Arbitration Rules for business disputes. Applicable consumer rules govern fees and hearing arrangements. Other proceedings shall be conducted in English in the state of the defending party’s principal place of business, or remotely by mutual agreement. Nothing in this section limits a non-waivable right to a court or remedy under applicable law.

17.3 Class Action Waiver

YOU AND SESSION ROUTE AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. The arbitrator may not consolidate the claims of multiple parties.

17.4 Exceptions

Either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement of intellectual property rights. Claims within the jurisdiction of small claims court may be filed in such court.

18. Termination

18.1 By You

You may request deletion through Delete Account in account settings, including in the app, or contact support@sessionroute.com for help. Follow the deletion screen’s instructions for pending bookings, obligations, shared workspaces, and data you want to keep. Export important files first. Account deletion removes access and starts the deletion process described in the Privacy Policy; some transaction, security, legal, and backup records may remain for limited purposes.

Cancel any Apple-billed subscription through Apple before deleting your account. Deleting an account or uninstalling the app is not a substitute for subscription cancellation. Outstanding charges, valid licenses already granted to recipients, and obligations that legally survive closure are not automatically cancelled.

18.2 By Session Route

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Grounds for termination include, but are not limited to, violation of these Terms, fraudulent activity, extended inactivity, or conduct that we determine, in our sole discretion, is harmful to other users or the Platform.

18.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, all licenses granted to you under these Terms cease immediately. Any outstanding payments owed by you remain due. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to Sections 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, and 17.

19. Governing Law

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Platform shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions.

20. General Provisions

20.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Session Route regarding your use of the Platform and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

20.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

20.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other provision. A waiver of any provision is effective only if in writing and signed by Session Route.

20.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. Session Route may assign its rights and obligations without restriction.

20.5 Force Majeure

Session Route shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, war, terrorism, pandemics, labor disputes, government actions, internet or power outages, or third-party service failures.

20.6 Notices

Notices to you may be sent to the email address associated with your account. Notices to Session Route should be sent to legal@sessionroute.com. Notices are deemed received when sent by email, provided that no delivery failure notification is received by the sender.
